Social Justice Matters

Towards Social Justice and a Truly Free South Africa

More than 25 years into South Africa’s democracy and we’re still struggling to create a just society. Wealth disparity, prejudice, and neglect of basic human rights are eating into our hard-won freedom. It’s clear that something needs to change.

HELLO

I am Nathanael Siljeur, an advocate, entrepreneur and campaigner for social justice. I grew up in a working class community on the Cape Flats and experienced first-hand the daily struggles of the poor and disadvantaged. But I also experienced the beauty of faith and the value of hard work and perseverance. Now I dedicate my efforts to social justice and to the attainment of a truly just society where the human rights of all people are respected. I hope you will join me here for some lively debate and compassionate enquiry into what it will take to truly set all of us free.

MY BOOK: Dealing With Racism

In Dealing with Racism, I examine the issues of race from my perspective as a coloured man in post-apartheid South Africa. While things have changed since the demise of apartheid, much work still remains to create a truly free and just society. I look at our responsibilities as parents, business people and members of churches and community organisations examine both the practical steps needed to ensure human dignity and equality as well as the ways we might unwittingly be contributing to prejudice. The message has been described by reviewers as positive and compassionately self-critical, aimed at engaging all sides of the issue in honest reflection and constructive debate. Available on Amazon in Kindle ebook and paperback.
